Maidah (“Maya”) Khalid-Janney, Psy.D.

I work with teens and adults who, after experiencing years of stress or trauma, are ready to take back their lives. If you are ready to “get to work,” I am ready to accompany you on your journey. If you are looking for a place to figure out how your past has affected your present, and how to change your future, I am ready to help.
Our brains and bodies are beautiful, evolutionary works of art with an innate ability to heal. As a therapist, I believe in a collaborative, client-centered approach, combined with therapy strategies that recognize the powerful connection between our minds and our bodies. Before getting my doctorate in clinical psychology, I received a BS in Biology; this grounds my understanding of the powerful connections between our physical bodies and mental health, and my belief in a holistic approach to healing.
While I utilize evidence-based therapies, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and cognitive-behavioral therapy, I treat therapy as a collaboration. I value input from you, the client, to tell me what works or doesn’t work for you. I am a huge believer in the power of empathy and emotional connection, which we all need in our lives.
I look forward to beginning this journey with you, as you make this brave step towards self-healing.

I am originally from New Jersey and grew up in a richly diverse part of our country. In my free time I love to travel and consider myself a foodie. I enjoy baking and cooking all kinds of diverse cuisines for my family and friends. I am a lover of art, history and science, and enjoy reading and visiting museums with my three young children. I am a self-described sci-fi nerd – my kids and I are currently all huge fans of The Mandalorian.
